FRENCH BASQUE COAST

The French Basque Coast is a region steeped in maritime tradition, shaped by the legacy of fishermen and whalers. Our journey begins in Biarritz, a glamorous seaside town renowned for its stunning beaches and vibrant surf culture. Here, we’ll explore the elegant architecture, including the famous Hôtel du Palais, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean from the Grande Plage. Biarritz’s waves, a haven for surfers, add to the dynamic atmosphere of this beautiful town.

Next, we head to Bayonne, a city celebrated for its historical significance and cultural richness. As we wander through the narrow streets of the Old Town, we’ll marvel at the half-timbered houses and visit the impressive Bayonne Cathedral. Bayonne is also famous for its chocolate and ham, and we’ll have the opportunity to indulge in these delicious local specialties, adding a culinary delight to our cultural exploration.

Our final destination is Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a picturesque fishing port with a rich maritime heritage. Strolling along the charming waterfront, we’ll explore the historic center where Louis XIV married Maria Theresa of Spain in the 17th century, and visit the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, known for its ornate wooden altar. Throughout our tour, we’ll immerse ourselves in the unique culture and traditions of the French Basque Coast, experiencing guided tours and the warm hospitality of the Basque people.
